YouTube Video Idea Generator
AI ideas based on trending topics in your niche.

The best YouTube video ideas are ones your target audience is already searching for but not finding good answers to. You can surface a full month of these in about 10 minutes if you use the right sequence of tools instead of brainstorming from scratch.
This post owns the weekly idea backlog: demand signals, title banking, and a Sunday AI assist so you never start the week blank.
Every creator hits the empty-calendar wall. The fix is not “try harder to be creative.” It is a demand-first workflow. If you are still pre-launch, pair this with the planning checklist.
The Core Insight
You are not lacking creativity. You are lacking data.
Video ideas that get views are not the ones you can think of at your desk. They are the ones your specific audience is typing into search bars right now. The workflow is not “sit and think harder”. It is “find where the demand is and match it”.
The 10-Minute Workflow
Minute 1-2: Anchor a Topic
Pick one core topic that is aligned with your channel. Not “content creation in general”. Something like “improving thumbnail CTR” or “beginner Ruby on Rails tutorials”. Specific.
Minute 3-5: Pull Search Demand Signals
Type your anchor topic into three places:
-
YouTube search bar autocomplete. Type your topic and note every suggestion that appears. Then add a-z after your topic (“thumbnail ctr a”, “thumbnail ctr b”…) and note the suggestions per letter. This is real user search behavior surfaced by YouTube.
-
Google’s “People Also Ask” box. Search your topic on Google. The People Also Ask questions are search-verified questions people are actively looking for answers to.
-
YouTube Video Idea Generator. Drop your anchor topic in and it pulls the search-clustered idea variants that are actively getting queries in your niche.
Save every suggestion. Do not filter yet.
Minute 6-7: Cluster and Rank
You will end up with 30 to 60 raw ideas. Group them by intent:
- How-to (people trying to do a thing)
- Comparison (people deciding between options)
- Diagnostic (people trying to fix a problem)
- Beginner (people learning from zero)
- List (people wanting curated recommendations)
Rank each cluster by how competitive the search is. A quick check: search the exact phrase on YouTube. If the top 3 videos have under 100k views combined and were posted years ago, that is a gap. If the top 3 videos have millions of views from big channels in the last month, that is a red ocean.
Target the underserved clusters first.
Minute 8-9: Convert Ideas to Titles
Take your top 10 clusters and write actual video titles for each. Two rules:
- Match the user’s search intent exactly. If they searched “why my CTR is 2%”, the title should contain “2% CTR” specifically, not “low CTR”.
- Front-load the interesting part. Mobile truncates titles at ~60 characters.
Minute 10: Sanity Check
Run your top 3 titles through the CTR Predictor with a rough thumbnail concept. Anything predicting under 4% CTR, revisit the hook. Anything over 6%, prioritize it in your production queue.
That is the whole workflow. 10 minutes, structured, repeatable, output is 10 ranked video ideas with title options.
Why This Beats Brainstorming
Three reasons.
First: you are working from demand, not supply. Brainstorming produces ideas you find interesting. That is not the same as ideas viewers want. Search-based idea generation starts from what is actually being searched.
Second: gap analysis is built in. When you check the top 3 competing videos, you immediately know whether the topic is winnable or crowded. You skip the death march of making videos in oversaturated topics.
Third: intent match is enforced. Titles built from real search queries convert at higher CTR because the click-through is intentional, not curious.
The 30-Video Batch Version
If you want to plan a full quarter of content in one sitting, run this same workflow with 5 different anchor topics. Each anchor produces ~10 ideas. You end up with 40-50 raw ideas, cluster and rank down to 30, and now you have a full quarter of production planned.
I do this once every 12 weeks. Takes about 90 minutes total. Way better than daily “what should my next video be” panic.
The Repurposing Trick
Do not throw away the ideas you did not use.
Every idea from the workflow that did not make the video queue can become:
- A Shorts topic (30 seconds on the same question). Same-topic Shorts vs a long video is a format split, not two random ideas.
- A community post (poll your audience on which they want most)
- A blog post (like this one)
- A newsletter section (link the eventual video)
Ideas are expensive to generate. Use each one across multiple formats.
When You Are Completely Out of Ideas (Sunday AI Session)
If the blank page is bad this week, run a 15-minute maintenance loop:
- Open the video idea generator
- Enter your niche plus 2 to 3 topics you still care about
- Pull a list of angles and title options
- Keep only ideas that pass the filter below
- Drop 3 to 4 winners on the content calendar
Do not paste AI ideas straight to the calendar. Rewrite them in your voice with your examples. The tool breaks the freeze. You bring the channel.
Three-point idea filter
Keep an idea only if:
- It solves a problem your audience actually searches for
- Someone is searching it (autocomplete or related results exist)
- You can make a clearer or more specific version than page one
If top results are already perfect, go narrower or skip it. Specific beats broad. Long-tail angles are how small channels win early.
You Do Not Have to Reinvent the Wheel
The best channels often win by executing familiar ideas better, not by inventing a brand new category every week. A cooking channel does not need a never-before-seen recipe every upload. They need a stronger version of a dish people already want.
Same rule here. Find demand. Make your version better. Ship.
What This Workflow Does Not Solve
This workflow generates ideas. It does not make videos. Thirty great titles with zero publish discipline still fail.
It also does not create a moat by itself. If everyone in your niche runs the same search workflow, you still need your angle, proof, and packaging. Identify demand, then add the part only you can film.
